Moringa drouhardii, commonly referred to as the Bottle Tree Moringa or Madagascar Moringa, is a striking ornamental and drought-tolerant tree native to Madagascar. Known for its unique bulbous trunk that stores water, this rare species is an excellent choice for dry-climate landscapes, xeriscaping, and botanical collections.
This deciduous tree can reach heights of 30 to 40 feet, with its most distinctive feature being the swollen, bottle-shaped trunk. The light green, feathery leaves and fragrant white flowers make it an attractive choice for landscape designers, collectors, and eco-conscious gardeners. Though less commonly cultivated than Moringa oleifera, Moringa drouhardii also has nutritional and medicinal value, especially in its seeds and oil.
