Cashew Anacardium occidentale

Cashew (Anacardium occidentale), native to northeastern Brazil, is a tropical evergreen tree belonging to the Anacardiaceae family. It grows up to 14 meters tall, with dwarf cultivars reaching 6 meters for commercial cultivation. The tree features spirally arranged, leathery leaves and produces cashew nuts, which are edible seeds encased in kidney-shaped shells. Additionally, it bears accessory fruits called cashew apples, which are light reddish to yellow and can be consumed fresh or processed into beverages. Cashew trees thrive in warm climates and well-draining soil, making them suitable for gardens and orchards. They are drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, providing high yields of nuts and fruits.
