Ficus auriculata

Ficus auriculata, also referred to as Elephant Ear Fig or Roxburgh Fig, is a tropical deciduous tree native to Southeast Asia. It grows up to 10–25 feet tall and features large, round, deep green leaves resembling elephant ears, making it a popular choice for ornamental landscaping. The tree produces small, reddish-purple figs directly on its trunk and branches, a unique characteristic of the Ficus species. These edible fruits are rich in nutrients and commonly used in traditional medicine. Ficus auriculata thrives in warm, humid climates and prefers well-draining, fertile soil. It is fast-growing, provides excellent shade, and is valued for its ability to prevent soil erosion and enrich soil fertility through natural leaf shedding.
